NCLEX Prep & Review

Niles College is pleased to offer the NCLEX Preparatory and Review Course. This course is a 3-day review course with simulated exams, consisting of integrating the nursing process, client needs, pharmacology, nutrition, safety, infection control, legal issues, management of client care includes priorities and delegation, home care and cultural diversity and also includes theory, laboratory and clinical experience designed to assist the RN in applying the nursing process and other essential skills to the care of clients experiencing common health alterations.

 

The first day is test-taking strategies, the second day will be medical-surgical nursing and the third day will be maternal/child and psychiatric nursing.

 

Day One - Test-taking Strategies: The first day will give you the edge you need. It prepares you for the latest computerized NCLEX exam. When it comes to NCLEX-CAT, it is not enough to have the knowledge, you need to learn how to critically think the question, analyse it, avoid the distracter and choose between the two best options. In the test-taking day, you will learn:

  • The test format, grading policy and up-to-date changes on the test,
  • How to develop critical thinking skills,
  • How to use the nursing process to meet the client needs,
  • How to analyse the question and identify the four critical elements,
  • How to avoid "misreading" the question,
  • How to avoid "reading into" the question,
  • How to eliminate incorrect options,
  • How to answer communication questions,
  • How to manage test anxiety and avoid undesirable test behaviors,
  • How to prioritize responsibilities and delegate patient care,
  • How to answer ethical and legal issues related questions.

 

Day Two - Medical-Surgical Nursing: During the second day and throughout the outstanding lectures and simulated exams containing hundreds of questions, you will learn how to apply the nursing process in taking care of adults with:

  • Cardiovascular Disorders,
  • Respiratory Disorders,
  • Acid-base Imbalances,
  • Gastrointestinal Disorders,
  • Genitourinary Disorders,
  • Oncological Disorders,
  • Connective Tissue Disorders,
  • Immunologic Disorders,
  • Musculoskeletal Disorders,
  • Burns,
  • Neurologoc Disorders,
  • Medical Emergencies.

 

Day Three - Maternal/Child and Psychiatric Nursing: During the third day, by reviewing hundreds of questions and discussing case studies, you will learn about the following:

  • Maternal/Child Nursing: Childbearing cycle, antepartum labor and delivery, emergency childbirth, post-partum complications, care of the newborn and high-risk infants, growth and development, nursing care of children with cardiovascular disorders, respiratory disorders, nuerological disorders, hematological disorders, oncology disorders, endocrine diseases, pediatric emergencies, communicable diseases and child abuse.
  • Psychiatric Nursing: Anxiety, Schizophrenia, mood disorders, personality disorders, chemical dependence/abuse, organic mental disorders, eating disorders, developmental disabilities and family violence.
