The Niles College Home Health Aide Training Program is designed to prepare qualified individuals, those individuals that were already certified nursing assistant, to become safe and competent Certified Home Health Aide and to perform the duties and functions in a home care setting. Upon completion of the program, student will be able to acquaint themselves with the practice of home health care knowing his/her roles and responsibilities, able to examine patients physical changes, developmental needs and common disease processes found in the home health care client and able to expand his/her knowledge about safety issues, environmental and personal care including awareness of client's personal preferences as it is delivered in the home. Courses covered are personal care services, cleaning and care tasks in the home, body mechanics, nutrition, anatomy and physiology, infection control, communication skills and resident rights. Personal skills, such as, how to help patients bathe, eat and groom themselves are also taught.
