Nursing Programs

a) Nursing Assistant Training Program

The Nursing Assistant Training Program is a program that consists of 164 hours of training; 60 hours of classroom instruction (Theory) and 104 hours of supervised clinical and skills lab training at an accredited and state approved facility. The clinical training is performed either at Burlingame Long-Term Care in Burlingame, CA. or at Carlmont Gardens in San Carlos, CA.

 

The program is designed to prepare qualified individuals to become safe and competent Certified Nursing Assistant (CNA) in a variety of healthcare facilities. The curriculum prepares them to take the program competency evaluation for State Certification. Upon completion of the training, the students will be able to demonstrate appropriate and effective communicating skills, assists with basic emergency procedures, apply the basic principles of infection control, and demonstrate behavior which promotes resident's independence and prevents abuse.

 

In addition, upon completion of the training, the student will be awarded with a Certificate of Completion and become eligible to take the State Competency Examination provided by the Northern California Regional Testing Center hosted at Mission College through the Health Workforce Initiative Bay Area Regional Center and after passing the examination, students will received a certificate issued by the California Department of Public Health (CDPH).

b) Home Health Aide Training Program

The Home Health Aide (HHA) Training Program is a program that consists of 40 hours of training; 20 hours of classroom instruction (Theory) and 20 hours of supervised clinical and skills lab training at an accredited and state approved facility. The clinical training is performed either at Burlingame Long-Term Care in Burlingame, CA. or Carlmont Gardens in San Carlos, CA.

 

Our objective is to train a current and active Certified Nursing Assistant (CNA) to assist with the care of all patients in an acute care facility under the supervision of a licensed nurse. The training program consists of elderly, convalescent or disabled persons live in their own homes instead of healthcare facilities. Under the direction of nursing or medical staff, they provide health-related services, such as administering oral medications, monitor the patient's vital signs and help with simple prescribed exercises. HHA will assists patients to get in and out of bed, bathe, dress and groom. On occasion, they may change non-sterile dressings, gives massages or provide skin care and assist with medical equipment such as ventilators which help patients breathe. 

 

Upon successfully completing all the requirements of the course, the student will be awarded with a Certificate of Completion. The student will also receive a certificate issued by CDPH as well as a 40-hr CE contact hours for CNA State Certification.
